It was inevitable once the decision was made and Dom McKay’s shock Celtic exit was confirmed that we’d soon start to see leaked information in the press.
‘Personal reasons’ cited on an official London stock exchange document sparked fears it could have been a health or family reason – we have been told unequivocally that is NOT the case.
It got to Friday night before RecordSport started giving exclusives and explaining the reasoning behind McKay’s dismissal. McKay painted as someone not up to the job. We then had Glasgow Times chiming in with their own version of events but again with McKay not being up to things being the tone.
One stand out part of both articles was the mention of Peter Lawwell.
Theories have been going around on social media about Lawwell still having too much pull within the Celtic setup.
Both The Record and the Glasgow Times rubbished this theory and the times even went as far as calling the notion ‘social media frothing’.

Peter stepped down as the Chief Executive at the end of June officially. Given his compulsion to micromanage and his links to the board, you can’t blame some people for coming to the conclusion rightly or wrongly.
We have no evidence to say Peter has been involved and the only official Celtic business Peter still has is being on the ECA board.
Celtic aren’t helping things by leaking information to the media and muddying the waters. This stuff will likely rage on for some time – let’s just hope Ange Postecoglou can shield the players from things.
