LIAM SCALES has branded his Sunday goal at Tannadice as ‘unbelievable’ after coming off the bench to grab Celtic’s third goal of the day.

The Irishman has had to be extremely patient for a chance to get on the field. When Greg Taylor went out injured the Defender may have thought he would see some decent game time. It turned out NOT to be the case with Josip Juranovic playing at left back for the duration.

It’s actually only when Greg has come back into the team, Scales has come on late for the returning left-back and made an almost instant impact.

Liam was a star at Shamrock Rovers, but knows at Celtic he has to play the long game. Taking his goal so well won’t have done his chances any harm at all.

Hopefully we see more of the big fella in the coming weeks and months and he can challenge Taylor or simply timeshare the position.

  1. I’ve raved about how good Liam is as my mate Mickey sends me Shamrock Rovers games and he was always a standout player in League and European games. I honestly believed he wasn’t coming here to make up the numbers so I’m surprised it’s taking him so long to adapt. Danny Mandriou is a really good player too and we’ve been linked with him although in fairness that link’s cooled recently and I don’t see who he replaces at the moment.

  2. I also follow Rovers a bit and was watching Scalesey over there. I sure was excited to learn of his move to Celtic. I knew we had a pler on our hands with Liam. Good lad, confident going forward, good defender, a well rounded player who can certainly do a job. Glad to see him off to a fantastic start and seizing his chance. HH
