Celtic Women fell to a 1-0 defeat to Rangers Women at the Excelsior stadium on Thursday evening.

It was a night of what ifs for the Celtic women, who will be wondering just how their goal to take the lead in the first half was chopped off by the referee.

Caitlin Hayes headed home from close range after a well taken corner. Initially it looked like the referee gave it, all of a sudden he was pointing to the six yard box for a foul.

Have a look at the goal.

The commentator claims it’s a push on the goalkeeper. But if you look at it, the goalkeeper throws herself towards Flint.

The goal didn’t stand and it would prove to be Fran Alonso’s sides undoing.

A cracking goal in the second half by Kirsty Howat settled the tie in Rangers women’s favour.

Both teams are now on 69 points each with Glasgow city on 74. The league isn’t over but the Ghirls would need a near perfect run now. They have Partick Thistle at the weekend and if they can get a win in that tie. A showdown with Glasgow City at Celtic Park awaits next Thursday to close the gap.
