A repeat of the weekend’s bore draw at Easter Road looked on the cards again as Celtic failed to get going in the first half tonight against St Mirren at Celtic Park.

There were a few half chances but in general, the Hoops looked like they picked up where they left off at the weekend and goals would be hard to come by.

It was hard to see where the goal was going to come from, St Mirren started the game with five defenders but in truth, they played with eleven.

In the end, the opening goal came from one of our centre backs in the 55th minute who are both long overdue a goal. The big defender buried his chance in fairness when it came.

A one-nil lead was never going to be good for the nerves and fans would have wanted a second as soon as possible to calm the nerves.

Celtic Captain Callum McGregor was probably overdue a goal too (not a performance) and it was the midfielder who got Celtics second in the 80th minute with this finish.

Celtic 2, St Mirren 0. Next up is a trip to Livingston on Sunday.
