It was only last week the Celtic captain enjoyed an 8th year anniversary of “The Broony” been born. The goals have been far and few between in the following years but that’s not why Celtic fans adore Scott Brown. But there is no player they would rather see smash a top corner than their midfield general.

Today the number eight obliged. It might have been nearly two years in the making but it was worth waiting for…

It was Scott Sinclair who set the tone in the first two minutes by slotting home to give Celtic an early lead. Celtic have struggled to break down St. Johnstone in the first half of their last two encounters, they were two up in ten minutes today.

Celtic go down the tunnel at half time with the two-goal cushion. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping they make easy work of the second half with a massive European fixture under the lights Thursday night. Celtic will host Valencia in the knockout stages and the Celtic boss will be hoping for no more injuries.
