KRISTOFFER AJER has told Celtic fans why he celebrated his tackle against Hamilton like he’d scored a goal after the Norweigan’s heroics kept a clean sheet on the day.

Although Celtic had been dominant, it was still only 1-0 to the bhoys when James Keatings went through on goal; the Hamilton striker’s delightful touch put him a great scoring position but it would Ajer’s quick thinking which would see him tackle the player, make contact with the ball and watch it roll harmlessly wide.

Celtic fans will know first hand how passionate Ajer can be and we have seen him make tackled to knock the ball out for a throw-in where he’s given a big reaction.

The Norweigan put in a top performance against the Accies and gives Rodgers some sort of comfort with his depth of centre-backs.

Speaking after the game about the tackle, Ajer was delighted he helped contribute to another clean sheet.

“The clean sheet was important for us – that’s three since we came back from Dubai.” the player told RecordSport.

“Obviously, that’s the main target for us as defenders but we’ve also scored 10 goals in those three games which is really positive. I celebrated that tackle, strikers celebrate their goals so we should be allowed to do that.

“You’re always happy to prevent a goal and I was actually in doubt if I was going to bring him down or not but luckily, I made the right decision.

“I also saw quite early the ball was going wide from my tackle, that was a relief.
