CHRISTOPHER JULLIEN has come under fire from certain quarters of our support for not celebrating the title win like some of the other players in the squad on Saturday.

There have been many fans posting pictures of Chris looking a bit jaded at times during the celebrations and calling for him to ‘get a grip’ among other things.

The narrative being set by some is pretty ridiculous and disrespectful to a player who has delivered at some big moments for this club.

I will say, I don’t think Chris was right to come out publicly with his playing time grievance over the past few days . The defender is obviously frustrated and wanted to be involved.

The Frenchman’s demeanour during the title celebrations will not be because he’s not happy for Celtic as a club. I put the player’s subdued celebrations down to him not playing any sort of part in the league this season and feeling awkward about showing ownership over the win.

Add to that his disappointment at not being in the squad for the game and it’s easy to see why the player is not in the best of spots.

Ange Postecoglou has chosen not to use Jullien this season after coming back from a year out of the game. It is the manager’s prerogative and he seen value elsewhere in the squad.

If I was a betting man, I’d say the defender will head for the Celtic exit this summer. If he does, he’ll leave with my best wishes.

Timing can be everything in football, for Chris, his Celtic career looked to have ended the minute he collided with a post inside an empty stadium.

Before that, the player helped Celtic towards an unprecedented quadruple treble with some big goals – the League Cup goal against The Rangers being up there.

The big man doesn’t deserve the kind of nonsense he‘s getting on social media at the moment. It’s time to show a bit of respect.

And for those who said he didn’t crack a smile the entire day – here Chris is with his son.
