Vasilis Barkas was pivotal for Utrecht on Sunday afternoon as they beat Vitesse 1-0.

The goalkeeper put in a star performance, making 5 saves and 13 recoveries as he stood firm to grab a clean sheet for his loan club.

The Greek goalie was sent out on loan to Utrecht when it was made clear he had no chance of being a back up goalkeeper at Celtic. The club signed Benjamin Siegrist on a free and still have Scott Bain on the books while Joe Hart remains our firm number one.

Barkas is clearly better than what he showed while at Celtic. The Hoops board are hoping the goalkeeper continues to play a big part for Utrecht, putting him in the shop window and perhaps upping his resale value which was at an all time low back in the summer.

Celtic fans won’t believe Barkas has made a decent impact at Utrecht, but he’s doing well. The club are currently sitting 8th in the league.
