Brendan Rodgers has stressed his team’s need to maintain focus and not become complacent, despite being current favourites for the Scottish Premiership title.

Following a pulsating 3-3 draw against Rangers and subsequent favourable results that saw Rangers drop points, Celtic now leads the league by three points as they head into the split.

Rodgers, speaking to the press on Friday, reinforced the message that nothing has been secured yet in terms of championships.

“We haven’t won anything yet,” he told Sky Sports.

“We can only do our work because you can’t soften up just because another team have drawn or lost. That’s irrelevant.

“You have to perform and get the results.

“If you come off it against teams who are more motivated and organised then they can give you a problem.

“For us, we need to continue to focus on our own performance irrespective of what happens elsewhere.

“Because, as I said, we have to create our story and for that, we have to work at it. It’s not how you start a marathon it’s how you finish it.”

This statement comes as Celtic prepares for their upcoming fixtures in the split, where they aim to secure their lead and claim the league title under Rodgers’ experienced guidance.

But first. Celtic face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Saturday in a 12.30 kick-off at the national stadium. The gaffer has a 100% win rate in the Scottish Cup, and he’ll be looking to continue his run and book Celtic’s place in the final, where they’ll face either Rangers or Hearts.
