Celtic appointed Brendan Rodgers as the club’s new manager at the beginning of this week.

Amongst the majority of the Celtic support, the appointment has been received well and the same can be said for club captain Callum McGregor.

The midfielder worked with Rodgers throughout his first spell as boss. And in reaction to hearing that a second is coming around, McGregor said (Celtic FC): “Obviously a really positive step for the club, a real statement of intent.”

Bringing Rodgers back was a huge move and as a manager, McGregor was full of praise for him: “He’s a top level manager.

“He’s constantly thinking about football, how to make the club better, how to make the team better and how to help the individuals within the team get better.”

The 30-year-old clearly believes Rodgers will continually improve Celtic and he also went on to say that the current squad has the perfect blend of youth and experience thus will be ideal to work with Rodgers.

Moreover, McGregor said Celtic supporters should be optimistic about the upcoming campaign: “I think everyone should be hugely excited.

“Obviously we’ve appointed the manager, the players are obviously on holiday at the minute but come a few weeks time, everybody will be ready to come back to work and the message now is we move forward together.”

It is set to be yet another vastly intriguing season at Parkhead.

The Bhoys will want to improve upon their recent treble triumph and under Rodgers, one wouldn’t bet against them doing it.

The bhoys will have a training camp in July before heading to Japan and South Korea for friendlies ahead of the SPFL kick off in August.
