Celtic captain Callum McGregor has lifted the lid on his post-match bust-up with Todd Cantwell in today’s Glasgow derby.

The skipper returned to the team from the bench today, coming on for the final 25 minutes of the hotly-contested clash.

McGregor did admittedly look a bit slow on his heels, cheaply giving the ball away in the lead-up to Abdallah Sima’s second-half leveller.

His blushes were quickly spared when Adam Idah ran up the park and scored, but Rabbi Matondo’s late strike ensured things ended equally.

Post-match, managers Brendan Rodgers and Phillippe Clement warmly embraced each other, shaking hands and joking but on the pitch, things were different.

McGregor and Todd Cantwell did seem to shake hands seamlessly, but words were said and the Rangers man ended up aggressively pushing his opponent. The Celtic captain lifted the lid on the incident after the game.

He said: [Sky Sports] “Listen, it’s football. It’s two passionate teams, they want to win, so there was no drama at all.”

On the situation, McGregor was rather tight-lipped. The 30-year-old has previously kept Cantwell in his back pocket, and perhaps the Englishman – who was criticised for his TikTok antics by Chris Sutton – is still holding a grudge.
