Camilo Duran insists Celtic are determined to make the most of their Europa League campaign after suffering one of the most painful European exits in the club’s history.

The Hoops endured a week of major disappointment after throwing away a four-goal aggregate advantage against LASK.

Celtic led 4-0 with around an hour of the tie remaining, but somehow found themselves beaten 5-1 after extra time and dumped out of Champions League qualifying.

The collapse has led to serious questions over Celtic’s game management and the instructions coming from the bench as the Hoops surrendered what appeared to be an unassailable advantage.

Celtic did manage to respond at the weekend, however, maintaining their 100 per cent league record with a 2-1 victory over Falkirk.

The Hoops looked comfortable for the majority of the contest, with Falkirk’s late pressure and an own goal making the final stages more nervy than they needed to be.

Duran was the difference.

The Colombian striker started through the middle with Kasper Høgh ruled out through injury and scored both Celtic goals to continue his impressive start to life in Glasgow.

Duran knows what it takes to score in Europe after finding the net regularly in the Champions League with Qarabag last season.

He will now have to settle for Europa League football with Celtic, but insists the competition can still provide the Hoops with a major target for the season.

“It was a difficult few days for everyone after going out of the Champions League,” Duran said to RecordSport.

“But we now have the Europa League with some good games to look forward to.

“It’s one of our big objectives now.

“Our aim is to have a good campaign in that competition now and that’s what we will prepare for.

“Losing in Austria last week was obviously disappointing

“But we knew we had to lift our heads and kick on, especially at home in front of our fans.

“It was pleasing that we did that. We now have to rest up before our next game this week.”

Celtic will now look to put the LASK disaster behind them as they turn their attention to the Europa League.

There’s still plenty to play for in the second tier competition, and the Hoops should be targetting a run in it.
