On Friday night, I had the pleasure of attending a fundraising event for the statue at the Irvine No.1 CSC.

Bobby Lennox is Celtic’s most decorated player, in a career spanning twenty years he scored 273 goals in 571 appearances. Bobby has won 32 honours for the club that he adores. The only other player that has won more than this is Ryan Giggs of Manchester United, who has won an extra honour.

Lennox made his debut for Celtic against Dundee on the 3 March 1962, in a 2-1 victory. Bobby is Celtic’s top-living goal scorer. What is important to remember about this campaign is that Bobby was the furthest travelled Lisbon Lion as he lived in Saltcoats at the time when Celtic won the European Cup in 1967.

The idea of this statue is not just to honour Celtic’s most decorated player but to also inspire young people, to show them that you can achieve big no matter where you are from. If you would like to make a donation to this worthwhile cause which is honouring a Celtic Legend, then click on to:

  1. While each and every one of the Lisbon Lions deserve a statue. Perhaps a more fitting accolade may be one of a team collective, enshrined in our famous Huddle. Everyone to a man played their part of bringing the Big Cup to Glasgow. Ynwa
