Camilo Duran is now travelling for his Celtic medical as the Scottish champions close in on their first signing of the summer.
The Qarabağ striker has been strongly linked with a move to Parkhead in recent days, and the deal now appears to be moving quickly towards completion.
Earlier reports from Azerbaijan suggested the fee could be around €5 million, while other claims had placed the figure closer to £3 million.
The latest update from Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has now provided further clarity.
Celtic are expected to pay around £3 million up front for the Colombian striker, with a further £2 million in potential add-ons included in the deal.
That explains the difference between the two reported figures.
The initial fee is closer to the £3 million mark, while the full package could rise significantly if the add-ons are achieved.
There has also been an update on the contract length.
Reports in Azerbaijan had suggested Duran would sign a three-year deal with the option of a further season.
However, Record Sport now reports that the 24-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract with the Scottish champions.
Duran arrives after an impressive season with Qarabağ, where he scored 15 goals in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.
His European experience is likely to be viewed as particularly valuable by Martin O’Neill, with Celtic preparing for a crucial Champions League play-off later this summer.
The timing of the deal is also important.
Duran had been due to be involved in Qarabağ’s Europa League qualifier this week, but his move to Scotland means Celtic appear to have avoided a potential UEFA eligibility issue.
Had he played for Qarabağ in the qualifying rounds, he would not have been available for Celtic’s own Champions League qualifiers.
With the player now travelling for his medical, Celtic appear to have moved in time.
Barring any late issues, Duran is now on course to become O’Neill’s first signing of the summer.
