Celtic have been handed the boost of being seeded in the first two rounds of Champions League Qualifying.

As reported by Sun Sport, With the Hoops finishing 2nd place this season, luckily for us that included a place in the earlier rounds of the Champions League.

Funnily enough though, it is actually a later stage than we have entered in the previous years going in a whole round later.

For both the 2nd and 3rd round of qualifying, if we make it to that stage, we will be seeded in the draw which on paper means a slightly easier draw.

Of course, with Celtic in these European Qualifier rounds, there isn’t really such a thing as an ‘easier draw’ as we have seen in the past being eliminated by the likes of Ferencvaros and AEK Athens.

In the 2nd round, this means we could face the likes of Rapid Vienna or Galatasaray.

If we make it through to the next round, with the seeding it does mean we avoided even bigger sides such as Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco, Lyon or Benfica.

However, it would still be a tough task to reach those playoff off places, likely being paired against Genk, PSV Eindhoven or Spartak Moscow.

With the short turnover, after both recruiting a new manager and players coming back from the Euros, we jump straight into a very tough start in European Football.

It is going to be a tough few months ahead, that’s for sure.

  1. We accept times will be tough. Manager arriving late on our books, adds transfer issues coming in and going out. This will be a real test for Howe, At Celtic, we EXPECT to win, no excuses!
