Celtic transfer updates have been gaining traction, with key players set to join in the coming days.

Haissem Hassan’s Celtic move is nearing completion after the winger passed his medical in London, while Mika Baur has been permitted to travel to Glasgow after Celtic agreed a deal with Paderborn.

The fee for Baur is reportedly £4.5 million, with a further £2.3m in performance-related add-ons.

His impending arrival could also clear the path for Reo Hatate to leave. The 28-year-old expressed his desire to move on in June and the club now looks to have secured a replacement before sanctioning his departure.

Hassan, meanwhile, gives the Hoops something they have been short of on the right. His pace and technique should add another threat in the final third and provide support for Kasper Hogh.

There is still work to do elsewhere.

Kieran Tierney remains the only senior left-back – an obvious concern given the demands that will be placed on him across the season.

The 29-year-old has started the campaign brilliantly, but relying on him every week would risk burning him out early.

The Herald’s Stephen McGowan has now reported that Celtic are close to completing a loan deal for another left-back.

The player was not named in the report, but the move would address a clear weakness in the squad and give Celtic the chance to manage Tierney properly around the biggest fixtures.

Talk of a Greg Taylor return has gathered pace online, though CeltsAreHere understands the former Celtic left-back has been training with PAOK ahead of Thursday’s Europa League third qualifying round second leg against Anderlecht.

Taylor was also involved in the first leg last week, coming off the bench in the 62nd minute.

There is nothing in McGowan’s report identifying Taylor as the player Celtic are closing in on, but a return has not been totally ruled out.

A goalkeeper is another position still being looked at.

Viljami Sinisalo is currently Celtic’s number one, but Martin O’Neill has previously spoken about the need for competition in that position.

That leaves Celtic with several pieces of business moving at once.

Hassan and Baur are the most advanced, a left-back loan is reportedly close, and another goalkeeper remains on the radar. Hatate’s situation could then provide the significant departure once Baur is through the door, while West Ham will reportedly return with an improved offer for Arne Engels.

After a period where supporters were waiting for movement, the squad is finally starting to change.
