Celtic left-back Diego Laxalt has joined his fellow countrymen in sharing a statement hitting out at the English FA, regarding the treatment of Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani’s recent suspension.

The Uruguayan forward was given the full support by the likes of Luis Suarez, Diego Godin and also the current on-loan AC Milan and Celtic fullback who all shared the statement on to their social media platforms.

Cavani was given a three-match suspension, having already served one of the games, for using an alleged racist term on his Instagram story when referring to a friend after he scored a double in United’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa.

However, the players have now argued that the Spanish term used is just a common expression used in Latin America which is meant to be close friend/family and the 33-year old should not be getting punished for that.

The way that the English FA has gone about this, appears to be that the message was lost in translation. The unity between the Uruguayan players appears to be strong, including Laxalt and will be back Cavani all the way when it comes to this one.
