Johnston, who has won three trophies in six months with Celtic, suffered an ankle injury during the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers in April. Despite this setback, he recovered in time for the final victory against Inverness.

Johnston then represented his country in international matches against Panama and the USA. However, he had to be substituted after an hour against the USA, and Canada’s coach, John Herdman, later revealed that Johnston was still dealing with his injury.

Four weeks later, Johnston has yet to return to training, which is a significant blow to Celtic and  Brendan Rodgers less than a month out from the start of the season.

Adding to Celtic’s defensive woes, centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers is also racing against time to be fit for the start of the season after undergoing a knee operation in May.

Despite the challenges, Celtic’s squad remains resilient and focused on the upcoming season. The Celtic support are hopeful that their stars, including Johnston, get back to full fitness shortly.

  1. The Fridge needs a re-gas. Super Ali, needs time to rest. He can herd the huns later in the season, standing on one leg anyway.

    So don’t worry be happie.

  2. Will be like another new signing once over his injury.
Tony Ralston is a good player, all he needs is a handful of matches to be top notch again.
    Hail Hail
