Celtic have signalled their intent in this summers transfer window with the signing of Christopher Jullien for a reported 7million pound fee. A colossal fee for a defender in Scotland.

Reports in the Daily Mail are suggesting that Celtic will have a fight on their hands for the signing of Rapid Vienna left back, Boli Mbombo. Italian giants Napoli are understood to be one of four clubs interested in the services of Mbombo.

Celtic’s wild card against the big money teams when chasing players is usually the offer of first-team football and some sort of European adventure. Then, of course, is the prospect of playing in front of the best fans in the world and the history of the club. The Celtic trophy room is currently bulging with silverware and this can be another carrot to dangle in front of potential signings.

Providing Kieran Tierney remains a Celtic player the Bhoys can’t promise Mbombo that much first-team football. If Tierney is fit, Tierney plays. Reports have emerged this morning of a new and improved offer for Tierney.

Burnley is another team said to be keen on the player, they could offer better wages than Celtic and probably offer a lot more game time too.

  1. From what I have seen already in the2 pre-season games, I am very happy that we already have a fine left back in Gutman, the young American lad. He is strong, tactically aware of what is going on around him in games, passes accurately and quickly, and tears down the wing linking up comfortably with players and getting crosses in. He already has an assist to his name and I hope NL keeps him here and does not send him back out on loan. He is ready.
