On-loan Celtic winger Mikey Johnston once again put in an impressive performance for Vitória S.C. as they defeated Boavista 3-2 at the weekend.

The 23-year old was not on the scoresheet for his side but put in a good shift to help send his team to sixth place in the Primeira Liga.

Vitória have had a fantastic start to the season and find themselves only five points off second spot SC Braga with the club aiming for European football this season.

The win against Boavista was the first chance Johnston had to get 90 minutes under his belt with him turning out to be a key player for the Portuguese side.

Johnston departed Parkhead this summer for a season long loan deal with the former Scotland under-21 international badly needing game time.

It will suit him playing with a side who likes to attack games, with the winger showing his potential.

This will be welcome news for Ange Postecoglou who has already spoken of the talent which he knows Johnston possesses.

He will be hopeful that the winger continues to progress while out in Portugal as he could still have a future at Celtic upon his return.

The move suited both parties as Johnston wanted game time which Postecoglou just couldn’t offer but would have wanted to see Johnston get a run of games to show his worth.
