It was a week ago when Chris Sutton made the claim Birger Meling was on his way to Celtic. The BT pundit seemed sure about it as he told the Celtic fans it looked like the club were getting their second left-back of the summer.
The speculation was hot on the Rosenborg star coming to Parkhead but that has died down in recent days.
Last week, it seemed a little strange Rosenborg or Meling would be doing a deal with the Champions League still an option for the Norwegian club. Celtic haven’t even qualified for the Europa League yet while Rosenborg have that as a safety net.
Sure enough, he hasn’t signed with Celtic, BUT that doesn’t mean he won’t.
Rosenberg played the first leg of their qualifier this week and were beaten 2-0 on the night. A transfer boost for the club if they are serious about the transfer. Could this be the Champions League result Celtic are waiting for?
The return leg of the tie is back in Norway this Tuesday and if the club go out to Dinamo Zagreb it could pave the way for Meling to move to Scotland.
Celtic seem to be picking up their interest in Greg Taylor but is the club holding out until they know the Rosenborg result?
