KRIS COMMONS says he totally disagrees with the notion Celtic will get rid of Edouard if they don’t make the Champions League group stage.

Commons discusses the theory that Eddy would be moved on and want to move on without Euro football, the former Celtic midfielder thinks that ship has sailed – even with the signing of Albian Ajeti.

Commons does have a dig at Albian for sitting on the bench all season for West Ham in the process, but the player turned pundit think Eddy has one more year left in the tank at Celtic.

“I totally disagree with that. For me, there’s absolutely no chance that Celtic will even contemplate selling their star striker at this late juncture. That ship has sailed.” Commons told the Dailymail as cited by RecordSport.

“The season is already underway. If they were of a mind to cash-in on Edouard, they’d have done it six weeks ago to give themselves time to find a suitable replacement.

“The signing of Albian Ajeti changes nothing in that respect. Despite the £5m fee, there’s no way he’s been bought as a direct replacement for Edouard.

“You don’t replace one of the best young strikers in Europe with a boy who was warming the bench for West Ham last season.”

Edouard has two-years left on his Celtic deal and will NOT garner his full value if Celtic let his contract run down to its final year. While Celtic fans are hopeful Edouard stays, they are not silly enough to believe it’s 100% off the table right now.

Celtic will do what’s best for business with regards to Edouard like they have done in the not so distant past.

We hope Champions League football means it eases the pressure on the club’s books to sell Eddy.
