DAVE KING is never too far away from talking about Celtic.

The former Ibrox chairman has discussed the Hoops for years; AGMs, interviews always seem to have a Celtic theme running through them.

King commented on Celtic’s appointment of Ange Postecoglou and likened it to his appointment of Pedro Caixinha back in the day.

Pedro really couldn’t get to grips with the Scottish game and Brendan Rodgers wiped the floor with the manager at the time.

He was up against a very strong Celtic side at the time.

King patted himself on the back for the Steven Gerrard appointment, which took three years and a worldwide pandemic for the Englishman to get somewhere with his team.

He called Postecoglou a big risk, as quoted by RecordSport, King said:

“I think there are obvious risks.

“I think there are risks just in coming to the UK and then Glasgow is a particularly difficult place to come into.

“There is a culture around it. It’s an absolute fishbowl from the media and fans’ point of view. It’s not just from a footballing point of view. There is a huge cultural adjustment. It’s a very, very difficult situation.

“We saw that with Pedro. It could have worked but it didn’t work.

“Whereas, bringing in someone like Steven, while Glasgow is still difficult, there is at least a comparative benchmark in Liverpool as to what it will be like.

“But coming from some of these foreign leagues is a big risk. It might work. But it’s definitely a big risk.”

Celtic will be looking to wrestle the title away from the Ibrox club who won it behind closed doors.

We’re hoping to see a return to supporters in the not so distant future.

Celtic have a point to prove and Ange Postecoglou will need time to get the team playing the way he would like.

He won’t get the same amount of time as the man across the city.

The Ibrox manager was being hounded by his own supporters weeks before the pandemic hit because they had fallen behind Celtic again. A massive reset button saved him from the chop, Ange will not get that sort of do-over.

  1. Ange Postecoglou is the biggest news in town No Doubt about that DK knows all about what Postecoglou can do,better than that he also knows Ange Postecoglou is here to make a name for himself and will go all out to take his first title in his first season give Ange Postecoglou the tools and he will deliver the title and much more….

  2. I agree with the optimism Jackie but the big problem is that he hasn’t been given the tools.
Last regime have left us trophyless, top player s either left or about to leave and Big Ange been left with nowhere near enough time to coach and assemble a squad before CL qualifiers
