Celtic midfielder David Turnbull made an underwhelming cameo off the bench at the weekend against Ross County. The Hoops’ number fourteen gave the ball away in Staggies territory and was fortunate they didn’t equalise from a resultant breakaway.

Saturday’s game was the fifth in a row in which the midfielder was benched. Despite a positive start to the current season, Turnbull’s form has dropped off, and it seems a move away from Celtic could be likely.

Per Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph on X, English second-tier side Cardiff City are keen to sign the 24-year-old and have made initial contact with the Scottish champions over a move.

If this deal is to be a permanent one that transpires in this window, one imagines the club wouldn’t rake in much given Turnbull’s contract in Glasgow expires this coming summer. There has been no bid to renew his deal, and this speculation regarding an exit doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

At the minute, he appears to be unfancied by Brendan Rodgers. Turnbull isn’t getting a look in with the form of Paulo Bernardo and Matt O’Riley, and it was telling that he didn’t get any minutes whatsoever against Highland League outfit Buckie Thistle.

A January exit for the treble-winner seems best for all parties. It allows Turnbull to go and test himself south of the border with regular games, whilst also preventing the Celts from losing a player for free.

  1. Players who have not taken their opportunity need to go.
Whoever is signing the likes of McCarthy has to go.
Both Lawells & Nicholson have to go and not return.

I will always cheer the players but the support are far to quiet.
Time to be HEARD, with encouraging the players, plus show the board full discontent.
