Former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant believes that the league leaders won’t be met with any answers after they approach the SFA about VAR.

It had been revealed that the Scottish champions were going to take their concerns to the SFA to hold crunch talks about the issue.

Celtic left Ibrox with a point on Monday after Kyogo’s late strike made it honours even although the Hoops feel as though they should of had a penalty earlier on in the game.

Carl Starfelt was penalised at the opposite end of the pitch for his challenge on Fashion Sakala which allowed James Tavernier to fire the home side into the lead.

When Starfelt’s shot in the opposing box was blocked by Connor Goldson’s hand, the Celts just couldn’t believe their luck as John Beaton wasn’t even instructed to look at the incident on the monitor by Willie Collum who had the luxury of a replay on the incident.

Before the World Cup, Celtic conceded a number of penalties for incidents similar which yet again showed a lack of consistency in the rules of the game being applied which has led them to take their concerns to the governing body.

However, Grant has questioned the outcome of such talks and believes it won’t get Celtic anywhere.

“What is the case? What is it going to do? Barry (Ferguson) will say Rangers have had decisions against them, and I have said for years Celtic have had it against them. We have all said it, my grandfather use to say it,” said Peter Grant speaking on Go Radio.

“We only talk about it because it’s Celtic and Rangers, but what are you going to get? You are going to get silence.

“It’s just a lack of quality at times. Some blatant decisions there is no excuse for whatsoever, and now they have got the help (with VAR). That was (brought in) to tell you there are no mistakes, I think it’s worse.

“I seen it in England, and I just thought it would be catastrophic up here. So far, so good.”

  1. Apparently Willie Collum suggested that John Beaton should review the handball incident but the referee decided not to look.
