Chris Sutton has rubbished the idea that Ange Postecoglou will jump ship anytime soon to head for the English Premier League.

The managerial merry-go-round has already begun as Chelsea parted ways with boss Thomas Tuchel after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

They appear to have moved quickly having now been granted the opportunity to speak to Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.

If Potter does decided to swap the East Sussex for London, it is likely that Ange Postecoglou’s name will be thrown into the mix about the job as it will be natural for his name to get linked with Premier League jobs after the great success he’s had at Celtic.

As a former Premier League winner, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has weighed in on the likely links with Postecoglou and Brighton.

“Ange Postecoglou will be linked with managerial jobs in the Premier League and I’m sure will eventually go down south but he’s only just got started at Celtic and he’s building something special. He certainly wouldn’t downgrade to a club Brighton’s size just yet… why would he?”, said Chris Sutton on Twitter.

Both Postecoglou and Celtic are a match made in heaven with the former Australian manager thriving while challenging himself in the Champions League.

The squad is where he would want it to be with the manager still having many challenges ahead.

In recent weeks he spoke of him laying the foundations for Celtic to compete in the Champions League which he’ll know would be ripped up if he departed.

He isn’t Brendan Rodgers and doesn’t think the lights are always brighter elsewhere.

Ange Postecoglou isn’t going anywhere!

  1. But then, you never know.

That behind every successful manager lies their wife (or partner) and the Immediate family. The lights may shine brightly in the far distance for them too?

See how things go. But very much a non story this.
