Former Everton player and Scotland international Pat Nevin has dismissed the idea of Ange Postecoglou becoming the Toffees manager.

The Premier League club are the latest side that Postecoglou has been linked with many putting two and two together as Celtic will face the Merseyside club on Sunday in the Sydney Super Cup.

Frank Lampard’s side currently sit 17th in the Premier League a point above the relegation zone with many believing that he will be the next boss to be given the axe after saving the club from relegation last season.

Nevin doesn’t believe that his former side could handle Postecoglou’s way of playing football and that it isn’t what the team currently need just now.

He does however believe that the Celtic boss will one day be offered a job in the Premier League as he is a top coach and is doing too much to be ignored. Nevin has also admitted that he is a big fan of the former Socceroo bosses style and enjoys watching his Celtic team.

“One day Ange Postecoglou will get a chance at the top level in England because he brings something extra special and really unusual,” said Nevin speaking to Grosvenor Sport.

“You watch Celtic games under him with a big cheesy grin on your face because they’re so positive and they’ll run until they fall down. The problem is that if they fall down after 70 minutes then they get battered as we’ve found out. It’d be a difficult thing to do in “England but boy I’d love someone to try it.

“If Everton lured Ange down to England, they’d have to give him at least two transfer windows to get people who can do it for him as the current players at Everton are not that style. You can’t do ‘Angeball’ with the players that are at Everton right now so I’m not sure he’d be the right fit just now.”

It is a sign of how well Postecoglou is doing at Celtic that he is being linked with so many jobs but at present his full focus is on the Hoops.

He may not be at Celtic forever but the chapter is still being written with there being plenty more boxes left to tick with Postecoglou having already stated that he has set about his plans for the summer transfer window.
