THOUSANDS of fans turned out to watch Celtic Women thrash Hibs 4-0 at Celtic Park, the first time the Women’s team has played here. Many season ticket holders also tuned into the Pass to Paradise to watch the Ghirls.

The Green Brigade were there to support Fran Alonso’s team, creating a brilliant atmosphere. The ‘taps aff’ continued from last week, with the sun beating down onto the fans in the North Stand.

After goals from Clarissa Larisley, Olivia Chance, Jodie Bartle and Chloe Warrington, Fran Alonso praised the ‘outstanding’ fans post-match on Celtic TV, saying;

“I think it was fantastic. I loved the performance, I loved the day in general, I loved the fans, they were outstanding, singing the whole game. Unbelievable. A really, really unbelievable day, and fantastic spirit.

“We were so professional from the beginning, and we kept going to the end. I couldn’t be any more proud of this group. It’s about the team to get the goals. We can get goals from everywhere on the pitch, what a fantastic day. I hope they will never forget.”

Hopefully, the Ghirls will play at Celtic Park again soon. It was a great day for all involved, bringing more deserved attention to the women’s game.

The next game, outwith the men’s, at Celtic Park, is the B team Glasgow Derby. Tickets are still on sale. Hopefully, Tommy McIntyre’s men can perform better than the last encounter, losing 3-0 at Ibrox.
