Yesterday, many Celtic fans got excited at the comments from Red Bull Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch about his interest in the Hoops managerial job.

However, as quoted by Sun Sport, today he has insisted that his work isn’t done yet at the Austrian side after all the links to the Celtic job.

“My work here is definitely not done, we have a lot of fun together.

“With the board and the group with Stephan [Reiter] and Christoph (Freund), with my coaching staff and the team.

“You will see what the next steps are. What is important for the club and for me.

“My family is very happy in Salzburg. We have made many friends. It is not necessary to take a step.

“The most important thing is to concentrate on our work. We now have two months.”

It was great to hear Marsch’s comments towards the club, showing that this project is exciting for young, talented coaches out there with the prospect of an entire club rebuild which is set to come.

From the outset, it felt like this wasn’t a possibility anyway. It is expected that Marsch will take the route of a lot of recent Salzburg managers in making the move over to Germany, similarly to someone like Marco Rose who will find himself at Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

A lot of things come together after the club sponsored the American for his UEFA Pro License course in Scotland but it does appear to be no more than being fond of the club at this stage.
