Another week, another Kristoffer Ajer man of the match.

The Norwegian is still playing like there’s still something at stake and looks like a real leader on the pitch.

But it’s been no secret the player is looking. to possibly move on this summer.

Kris has been at Celtic for five years now and feels he wants to take the next step in his career. I totally understand where he’s coming from, but if Celtic could offer him a deal that would just see an extra year added to his current Celtic deal and bring his wages up to one of the top earners at the club, we could yet get one more season out the big man.

Speaking after the game about Ajer’s future, John Kennedy wasn’t giving anything away but it did sound like he was leaning towards an Ajer exit this summer.

“When that comes it’ll be the club and Kris himself making that decision. It’s important for the club going forward to keep players like him. But it’s a two-way thing of the player having that commitment contractually as well.” Kennedy told the Scotsman.

“We’ve got boys here like [Scott] Brown and [Callum] McGregor who know the club inside out, enjoy being here and have an affiliation with Celtic. They’re happy here and content, they want to maximise the time they have.

“But other players as we’ve seen in the past, come in, do well for the club – but if it makes sense for the club from a business perspective and the player sees his future elsewhere, naturally things change. But that’s not just at Celtic, that’s at every club.”

Our Social media team certainly think it’s worth asking the question.

Kris played out his skin against Aberdeen and picked up the man of the match award. There’s only seven games left of this season and right now, unless the club can convince the player to stay another year, we might just see us cash in.

Dominic McKay would win a lot of friends straight off the bat if he walked into Celtic park and delivered a new deal for Ajer.
