Jota was up in front of the mainstream media this afternoon ahead of the tie against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday.

The winger has been a standout even with Celtic struggling to get results and the hope is when the team can click, the Benfica loan bhoy can really do damage.

Asked about the title and if it’s already over by the mainstream media – Jota was not playing ball and made sure to answer respectfully but also emphatically.

“Last time I checked there are no champions in September” Jota told CelticTV.

‘So I think we just have to play game by game. I think we have to learn from the things we do wrong, develop, and just be a better team.

“So the championship will end in May, I think, and then we can speak about that.

“For now I think there is plenty of the championship to play.”

Celtic are six points behind top spot and sit in 6th place in the SPFL at the moment. It’s not been good enough and something will have to drastically change for the bhoys to mount a credible challenge.

That drastic change could come in the form of a fit again Kyogo Furuhashi.

Celtic’s defeats this season have come when the striker has not been played upfront or not been in the squad.

The Hearts defeat at the start of the season so Kyogo put out on the left for the closing minutes of the tie – hours after touching down in Glasgow. The Japanese star was on the left in the narrow 1-0 defeat at Ibrox, he did set up a fantastic opportunity for Odsonne Eduoard – but the Frenchman missed the mark. He’s Kyogo has been out injured since the Ibrox tie and Celtic have suffered.

No mobility up front has been a real problem and having him back could spark Celtic’s season – the only issue is, things could be worse before his return if we don’t get three points at Pittodrie before the international break
