LUCA CONNELL has wasted no time in finding a new club after his Celtic exit just a few weeks ago.

The midfielder has signed for Barnsley on Friday afternoon.

The Irish under 21 international never played a senior game for Celtic and was loaned out twice to Queens Park during his time at the club.

Many Celtic fans had high hopes for the young midfielder when he came in from Bolton having already made his senior debut for the English club. Luca’s progress stagnated like many youngster’s when the pandemic hit and it was an uphill battle to push his way into the Celtic side.

Ange Postecoglou is an honourable man and he’d have been straight with any player he doesn’t have a plan for next season.

Celtic chose not to exercise the extra year clause in Luca’s contract and allowed Connell to leave to seek a new challenge.

We now know that challenge is Barnsley. We wish the player all the very best for the future and hope too see him kick on next season.
