CELTIC are closing in on a new centre back after reports in France confirmed Celtic and Toulouse had agreed on a fee for the transfer of Christopher Jullien.

The defender has been top of Celtic’s list of targets this summer but the player’s fee was putting the club off trying to land the 26-year-old.

However, it has emerged this morning the Scottish Champions have not paid the rumoured €8million asking price. According to the Evening Times, Celtic have managed to negotiate the price down to €7million for the sought after defender.

This is still a large outlay for the club but it shows Neil Lennon means business as he looks to strengthen his squad in the coming weeks.

Celtic start their Champions League qualifiers in July and have yet to sign anyone in this window. David Turnbull was expected to be announced by now but a problem with the player’s medical has put the move into doubt.
