NEIL LENNON and his team managed to salvage a point in the end at Livingston and a very important point it turned out to be. Celtic were unaware at the time they were trailing Livingston that Hamilton were beating Rangers*.

However, not long after Celtic scored the equaliser, news filtered through to the technical area, much to the manager’s surprise.

One big surprise for Celtic fans on the night though was not seeing Leigh Griffiths in the team even though the team was set up for a 3-5-2.

Eddy and Leigh had been building a solid partnership but it was dropped for the Copenhagen game and it was dropped at Almondvale. Elyounoussi came into the side in front of Leigh and Neil explained why.

“Just a little bit more physicality. We’re going to need that tonight. They’re a strong team and we need to be very strong and resolute.” Neil Lennon told BT Sport in his live pre-match interview (19:30).

“He brings a level of intelligence to our forward play. He’s in good nick. We missed him at the weekend and we’re glad to have him back.”

It felt like the manager was putting square pegs in round holes. Forrest and Taylor being played as wing backs when neither suit the position. Elyounoussi a floating front man which didn’t really work out on the night.

If you’re going to play Elyounoussi we have the personnel to play a 4-3-3 with James Forrest, Greg Taylor and room for Jeremie Frimpong to all play in their natural positions.

Something to think about.
