As it comes to the end of the season you expect that there might be some regret in the Celtic boardroom if stories are true that they rejected a bid of over £7m for Dedryck Boyata in the summer.

Most Celtic fans at the time thought Celtic should have taken the money, especially after the player seemed to have downed tools. How much of all those events were true now is anybody’s guess. As it turned out Boyata was badly needed through the season and the player in fairness gave 110% in every game.

He was under immense pressure to win the fans back over after some silly posts on social networks from the defender. When it comes time for him to move on now he can leave with his head held high and the respect of the majority of Celtic fans.

Reports in the last few hours from the usual newspapers are saying Olympiacos are back on the defender’s trail. Celtic fans have known for a long time that 28-year-old is a free agent this summer and will probably have a selection of teams to chose from.

Fulham was the team said to have put in a late summer bid, but with the Londoner’s relegation from the EPL confirmed on the weekend, it seems unlikely the Belgian international will want to play in the Championship.
