Twenty-one-year-old John Hatton, from Belfast admitted assault at Glasgow sheriff court this afternoon after running onto the field at Celtic Park.

The young lad’s lawyer told the judge – “The match wasn’t disrupted for any great length of time. He had consumed a lot of alcohol and can only remember parts of the day.”

The judge has banned Hatton from every football stadium in the UK and deferred sentencing for next month pending background reports.

Another Celtic fan was in the dock for landing a punch on Hatton as he was carted off by the Police. The Celtic fan, infuriated by the antics of the youngster lashed out when he got into reach.

The judge ordered the Celtic fan to pay a £400 fine but did not hand down a banning order to the 61-year-old and stated he hoped Celtic would see sense and let him keep his season ticket.

Celtic will now face UEFA disciplinary action on October 19th over the pitch invading incident.
