FORMER Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has signed a new lucrative deal with his current side Tractor Sazi who play in the Iranian Gulf Pro league.

Many eyebrows were raised when Stokes decided to make the move to Iran, especially after going AWOL in Greece with Apollon Symrni after just a handful of games.

However, the striker who has found a permanent home hard to come by since his Celtic days has found one in the most unlikely of places.

So far, the former Celtic frontman has scored ten goals in just nine games for his new club and that has seen him earn a massive four-year deal with the club after initially only signing a one-year deal in the summer.

The Irishman’s new deal is said to be significantly higher and much better money than he was on the Hibs.

Stokes has always been a talent but off the field issues have sometimes got in the way of his career.

If he’s settled in Iran then fair play to him.
