Competition for places in the Celtic team is sky-high at the moment, with at least two quality players for each position fighting for a place in the starting lineup each week.

The manager stressed that players cant take it easy in training, or they risk losing their position. He also spoke about the players striving to push each other to their next level.

The atmosphere is great within the team, with each player looking to push one another to their limits.

As quoted by The Scotsman, Postecoglou said:

The first thing we do is ignore the stats. They can get you thinking youre in a comfortable space.

Its just the environment we create here. Thats what Ive done here from day one. These guys come in and no day or minute is wasted.

When you have that, you dont really worry about stats or form. You know thats irrelevant and in the past. Whats important is what the next step is. Thats the key. Look at our squad right now, its the strongest it‘s been since I arrived at the club. Training every day is really intense.

The players cant come in here and try to cruise through because theyll get found out straight away. And theyll lose their position. It just doesnt allow for it. We have healthy competition. Its not about anyone wanting others to fail. Its about wanting everyone to succeed and push each other to the next level.

Training is intense, and with no midweek games for a good while now, it’s only going to get tougher for the players, with Postecoglou granted some extra time on the training pitch. The benefits should reap soon in matches, and with some big ones ahead, performances could begin to peak soon, just in time for the bigger matches of the season.
