Celtic legend Henrik Larsson has been given a new prestigious UEFA job.
The Swede, who netted a mammoth 242 goals in 315 Hoops appearances, has been appointed to a new football board that will discuss the future of VAR across Europe (Daily Record).
There are several notable names on the board along with Larsson such as Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, Roberto Martinez and ex Celt Robbie Keane.
This is undoubtedly a highly distinguished group of people who have top footballing brains.
To have the likes of Larsson, Mourinho and Ancelotti, all high achievers and world class performers whether it be on the pitch or in management, helping to influence the future of such a contentious subject as VAR is only positive due to the wealth of experience they have.
On the appointment, UEFA President Aleksandr Ceferin said:
“UEFA is delighted to see that the very ones who have shaped the game’s history with their talents and philosophy through decades are gathered again around our common goal – to protect the game of football and its essential values. As we always say: Football first!”
Although the role focuses on the whole of Europe, Larsson will hopefully keep a close eye on VAR in Scotland in order to try and help improve it for the greater good.
