Birmingham World reports that the winger, currently out of favour at Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been placed on the transfer list by the Premier League side.

The Wolves are said to be valuing the Portuguese winger at £17 million and are actively exploring sale options. Discussions with Celtic appear to be ongoing.

It’s extremely unlikely that Celtic will pay anywhere near the fee that Wolves are hoping for as they try to recoup what they bought him for.

Should Podence move to Celtic, it would be seen as a significant acquisition. Primarily a left-winger, the 27-year-old also has the flexibility to play in central and right-sided attacking roles.

With his contract set to expire next year, there were initial thoughts that Celtic might be able to negotiate a fee lower than the £17 million asking price, although there’s no current evidence to support this theory.

Celtic’s true interest level in Podence remains uncertain, especially given recent developments of the club placing a bid for Luis Palma. The Aris Thessaloniki winger was absent from training on Thursday, reportedly due to his agent being engrossed in transfer discussions. [Read more here]

With the transfer window drawing to a close in just a week, Celtic’s choices on the left wing will certainly be of interest.
