MOUSSA DEMBELE has revealed that it was text and calls from players at Lyon that made him decide to jump ship on the final day of the transfer window.

The Celtic fans watched on in disbelief as Brendan Rodgers said he was going nowhere only for the striker to attack the club publicly in order to push through the record breaking move.

Speaking to the Lyon website the former Celtic striker said it was the barrage of calls and texts from his now teammates that made it clear to him he had to head to France.

This supposedly his reason for acting out.

“Before signing, I received a lot of messages and calls from the club’s players. They made me come.” Dembele told the Lyon website.

“We know Lyon, it’s a historic club. There were some very great players, especially attackers.

“It is a pride to represent this club.”

Moussa was tantamount to being tapped up by the Lyon players. We’re also not naive enough to think this wasn’t a possibility.

With Celtic struggling for goals there will be no crumbs of comfort for the bhoys in green in what Dembele has said.

The French striker was asked to stay until January and he refused.

Two games into his Lyon career (one start, one sub appearance) the player is looking for more game time to make his mark.

Lyon fans are loving the French stars commitment but one day another club’s players will come texting and calling….
