CHRIS SUTTON seems less trigger happy as many other pundits as Celtic struggle to find form and their identity.

Three games without a win and falling six points behind their rivals, albeit it with a game in hand, has left many looking to play the blame game.

In football, the buck is always going to stop with the manager.

On BBC Radio 5 Live, Chris was asked the question if his former teammate should walk from the job after more dropped points at the weekend.

The Englishman isn’t convinced Neil Lennon should and mounted a defence.

“Do I think he should walk right now? No I don’t.”

“Do I think he is close to losing his job? Well, we all know the pressure is really on when you are the manager of Celtic or Rangers as they are both huge clubs.

“The issue this season is the team have not played well and in the big games Celtic have failed it is as simple as that.

“The performance wasn’t good against AC Milan in the Europa League. In the second half I thought it got better as Neil changed the system to a back four.

“They have a lot of issues still to resolve and the result against Aberdeen, I don’t think Neil should be sacked off the back of that performance.

“I thought it was okay, albeit Celtic wanted all three points.

“You can’t sack a manager, if they win the game in hand, who is going to be three points behind Rangers at the top.

“But the next few games are going to be crucial.” Quotes cited by SunSport.

Sutton makes a compelling point, if we can start winning and gain victory with our game in hand, sacking a manager who could only be three points off their rivals seems over the top.

However, on the other side of the argument, people are pointing at performances from the whole season as their evidence, time is up.

  1. For me personally , I don’t think Neil knows which is his best team. There is a lot of quality within the group. We’re not privy to their egos , but this is something young strachan was brought in to do , was he not. I don’t think we have the right personnel to play three at the back. When Griff has come on he gives the team a lift. Turnbull hasn’t been afforded the game time others have had. One thing is for sure, I’ll be right behind them , not calling them like some folk. This is up there with big Jocks achievements, it may not happen again in my lifetime. Clear the air dressing room and those who want to move on , drop them and give the ones who want their place in history , give them a go. Hope this makes sense ?????????

  2. For God’s sake get a grip!.. How many teams have the likes of Jillian, Bitton, French Eddy,, El Mohammed and Forrest out all at one time??. And how come, sevco seem to be the only team in Scotland , free from the “bug”.??? Or is this just the normal thinf from ibrokes, not a bit of truth coming out of it?? Only asking!!!! Hail Hail AND WE WILL WIN THE LEAGUE!!

  3. Quietly confident Celtic can turn things about, and put the pressure back on Sevco, and all the other 10 teams in the league to beat, or draw with either of the top two. Celtic (and Neil Lennon) Have been here. Now before we ask for a public crucifixion. Let’s see what the league table says at and beyond Xmas. Eupopean football is a lottery anyhow. As Neil has other things on his (and the collective squads) mind.
