Celtic’s late move for Justin Devenny has fallen through, with the Crystal Palace midfielder now set to remain in England.

The Hoops submitted a loan bid for the Northern Ireland international on Tuesday, with the Championship transfer window closing that night while Scotland’s remained open until Thursday.

Celtic had hoped to bring Devenny to Parkhead for the season as Martin O’Neill looked to add another option to his squad.

However, the move will not now happen, despite the late attempt from the Scottish champions.

Attention has instead turned to another deal involving a Premier League club, with Celtic expected to complete the signing of Chelsea youngster Landon Emenalo.

The 18-year-old left-back is currently undergoing a medical in Scotland ahead of a move to Parkhead.

Emenalo is regarded as a promising prospect at Stamford Bridge and would provide Celtic with another option at left-back as O’Neill looks to strengthen his squad before the Scottish transfer deadline.

Celtic have already been active in the final days of the window, bringing in Oliver Sørensen on loan from Parma, while Joel van den Berg is also expected to be announced.

The club remain in negotiations over Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, with the Lithuania international having been a long-term target throughout the summer.

With the Scottish deadline not arriving until Thursday, Celtic still have time to complete further business despite missing out on Devenny.
