Karamoko Dembele made a surprise appearance this evening in Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen. Although the 17-year old may have been on for just over 10 minutes, his time on the field showed one of the Hoops glaring problems this season.

The width that the youngster provided at times, sticking to the touchline before attempting to beat his man, showed what both John Kennedy and Neil Lennon’s sides have been missing this season.

We saw a similar example when James Forrest made his return to the side in a 6-0 win over Livingston.

Now, of course, that one problem wouldn’t have solved this whole disastrous season and it probably wasn’t our biggest worry either.

However, it is another example of the poor recruitment that we didn’t bring in a backup right winger to replace James Forrest whilst he was injured because it was clear Dembele wasn’t going to get a chance from the early stages of the campaign.
