Moritz Jenz has signed for German club Schalke for the rest of the season after cutting his loan short at Celtic.

The defender made 19 appearances for Celtic in all competitions but failed to make an appearance for the bhoys post-World Cup break.

Carl Starfelt coming back from a longterm injury and the signing of Yuki Kobayashi meant Moritz was surplus to requirements at the club.

When he wasn’t going to get much game time at the club, it became clear for both parties it was better for Moritz to move on.

The defender’s parent club FC Lorient facilitated the move that saw him return to the club briefly and then head back out on loan to the Bundesliga.

Schalke are in a big relegation fight and need all the reinforcements they can get. We wish the big man all the best for the future and for the birth of his first child later this year. Hail Hail Moritz!
