During a sit-down interview with the Celtic View, Yousouff Mulumbu revealed his ultimate respect for two players in the game – and two he’s come up against in his career.

Celtic fans will love one answer but maybe not so much the other.

Speaking about playing in Scotland, the player he respected the most was his now Captain, Scott Brown.

Mulumbu said: “Here in Scotland, I would have to say Scott Brown. I’ve had some good battles with him on the pitch. I have big respect for him because he’s a class player and when I came here he was really nice.”

Speaking about another man he respected on the field while playing down south – well that accolade went to current Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard.

“In England, back when he was a player, it would be Steven Gerrard. He was one of the best on the pitch. He never lost the ball and had such great vision” the Celtic midfielder admitted.

Of course, nobody is going to argue how good a player Gerrard was in his day but I think Brendan Rodgers would take issue with him never losing a ball.

There’s at least one instance that comes to mind for sure.

Mulumbu is desperate to get his Celtic career underway and could do so in Celtic’s Thursday night game against Rosenborg, or it could come against his former side on Sunday.
