TIMO WEAH has tonight sent an emotional message to the Celtic support as he confirms his early Celtic exit which was rumoured for weeks.

The American has been called up to the under 20 USA squad for this summers World Cup in Poland and will have to meet up with the squad before the end of the season. The Under 20 side kick off their campaign a day before Celtic’s Scottish Cup final against Hearts.

Weah seemed to have wanted to stay until after the weekend but the attacking midfielder told fans Neil Lennon told him it would be best to leave before Sunday if he was on his way.

From Weah’s message it looks like there’s no way back for the player with no extended loan being talked of. He has been used sparingly by Neil Lennon after an initial positive start under Brendan Rodgers.

The manager leaving dented the player’s chances with Lennon preferring Hayes and Sinclair to the youngster.

We wish Timo all the best.
