Ange Postecoglou has a selection headache on his hands with it being likely that captain Callum McGregor will be out of the side for next few games.

The Scotland international was already suspended for Saturday’s trip to Perth after he picked up a red card for committing a professional foul in Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Motherwell at the weekend.

In Leipzig, he was replaced by Danish international Oliver Abildgaard who had to play the remained of the game.

Aaron Mooy did not travel with the team over to Germany after he picked up a niggle in training but he is likely to return to the side soon.

Both players are likely to be handed some game time if McGregor is out for a lengthy spell with Yosuke Ideguchi and James McCarthy also being potential options.

Abildgaard was signed for a purpose in the summer window and is the likely suitor to come into the side.

McGregor being out is a huge blow to the team, not just due to his leadership abilities but also the fact of how important he is in linking the play at times.

Ange Postecoglou will likely deliver an update on McGregor’s situation during his pre-match St Johnstone press conference.
