Gvidas Gineitis could still become a Celtic player as talks continue over a potential move.
Gineitis has been one of the Hoops’ top targets throughout the summer, with the Torino midfielder’s name not going away.
PSV’s Joel van den Berg and Parma’s Oliver Sorensen are in Glasgow ahead of their moves to Celtic. Van den Berg is due to make the permanent move, worth up to £3. 4 million after add-ons.
Sorensen, however, is expected to make a season-long loan move, with Martin O’Neill’s side holding an option to buy. He only made a €7 million move to Parma last summer, though he has failed to find the form that caught the eye at FC Midtjylland.
Many assumed the deals for the midfield duo would immediately end any possible move for Gineitis, but the Lithuanian international is still of interest to Celtic, with talks ongoing with Torino – that’s according to Sky Sports’ Luca Bendoni.
It’s understood that the Serie A side may lower their previous asking price of around £10m – which has put Celtic on alert.
The 22-year-old has made three appearances so far this season, registering one assist.
The Hoops’ potential move for three central midfielders would signal the end of Reo Hatate’s time in the green and white, with a move to the English Championship recently emerging.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is in Glasgow ahead of his loan switch as the Celts look to provide competition for Viljami Sinisalo between the sticks.
