Be Celtic

By Paul LarkinI like this age where we can all have a platform. The term "Celtic Family" is bandied about a little and bastardised more but it has a place, an important place at that. We all complained for many years about the mainstream media in Scotland and the best thing that happened was when we stopped complaining and started to become the media.It's important to have as many voices as possible coming from the Celtic Family because the MSM won't stop, Radio Clyde still paying people is all the evidence you need, and we have to keep counteracting that.I've often been asked why I don't have any of my books publicised by the MSM and even had it suggested that this is a route I should be aggressively pursuing. The reason I don't is simple, I'm not interested in playing that game.I can say that from a position of strength because I recently was asked by two journalists in the space of three weeks to give them the "exclusive" on my new book out in November. A couple had been sniffing about after I released a video on YouTube which alluded to the subject matter. I talk to journalists all the time but this was only the third time in my life I was offered a "deal" if you will. So, yeah I'm supposed to take the deal then go on HomeBhoys et al ripping the pish out of the MSM and then go in a tabloid and be like "ooh, look at my new book folks" I've got tons of flaws but naivety isn't one of them. That's why new platforms for Celtic fans are important. Blogs are springing up all the time and new voices are being heard all over podcasts. Now anyone can put their thoughts out there, we can fight back at the MSM and have our own ways of getting the message out there. This is good. Instead of complaining, we are taking to our laptops, recording our thoughts and putting out quality content by Celtic fans for Celtic fans. I'm sure this site will add to that. Paul Larkin@paullarkin74
